When a business needs additional temporary or permanent space, sustainability and environmental friendliness are always on the agenda. The finished building's energy consumption is not the only thing that needs to be considered, but also the life cycle of the materials used, their origin, and the transport routes they take. With that it is possible to produce an integrated overview of the CO2 footprint of the building project, which is an increasingly decisive factor for builders. Sustainability also pays off financially, because sustainability also means cost efficiency.

Warehouses and buildings can be constructed using many different kinds of construction techniques. These include conventional and more classic kinds of techniques, in which, for cost reasons, natural and sustainable construction materials are not considered. These days the support structure, the material used for thermal insulation and thermal protection, the roof coverings and wall panelling, the interior cladding, the foundation work and anchoring and all the other elements are often chosen only according to cost considerations – which is naturally not very ecologically-minded.

But for decades now an innovative construction technique has been available. This technique is attractive in terms of sustainability, but is still relatively unknown among builders of commercial building and warehouse construction projects: lightweight temporary buildings and warehouses. Hardly any other construction technique is as suitable for commercial purposes as temporary buildings built with an aluminium frame structure and an industrial grade tarpaulin roof. The advantages over classic solid construction techniques, such as steel or reinforced concrete, are obvious:

  • Even though it is fairly lightweight, aluminium is comparatively stable and robust. This gives aluminium temporary buildings a low design weight, which translates into lower material consumption and lower costs for you as a customer. However, aluminium is long-lasting and corrosion resistant – even skyscrapers of record height can be built with aluminium.
  • Because they are easy to dismantle, temporary buildings can be disassembled and quickly assembled again at other locations. This provides you with flexibility regarding location. The life cycle of an aluminium building is comparatively long. Should a temporary building ever have to be scrapped, almost 100% of the aluminium in the demolished materials can be recycled and reused. This completes the construction material cycle, so it is gentle on resources and the environment.
  • Due to industrial prefabrication, manufacturing and production are limited to only a few locations. This makes intermediary transports unnecessary, and transports to the assembly location are reduced to a minimum.
  • The intelligent modular construction system allows a variety of designs as well as flexibility. For example, our robust temporary buildings can be refitted from insulated to non-insulated, and all accessories can be flexibly added or eliminated.
  • The quick assembly and dismantling mean that noise disturbances for neighbours are reduced. Moreover, countless trips by installation specialists and subcontractors are unnecessary.
  • To produce aluminium and the other temporary building parts, modern production processes are used. This ensures optimal utilisation of resources, and production waste and by-products are reduced.
  • Whenever possible we deliver accessories and parts of the building from our suppliers directly to the setup location of the building.   • Temporary buildings do not need any foundation, and they can be set up on asphalt, for example. Since no foundation and groundworks are needed, enormous costs can be saved and the burden on the environment is directly reduced at the same time. Since concrete has a comparatively poor environmental track record, the reduced burden is quite significant.
  • The comparatively clean assembly process for a temporary building makes a difference in the cleaning of the construction site after the building is complete. After a temporary building has been built, the site needs a minimum cleaning, because hardly any dirt or mess is produced during the construction phase. In addition to the short construction time, it also reduces the burden on the environment.
